    TDCJ re-hire question

When I left TDCJ I was an intra-agency transer to TYC, however when I left I had a pending disciplinary for a rule violation, it was the first one and it isnt a violation that an employee could be terminated for though. It was my first one in the year and a half I was at TDC and I had good performance evals the whole time. I was wondering if that pending disc. would prevent me from being re-hired at a critically understaffed unit?

    Re: TDCJ re-hire question

Best thing to do is to called Huntsville HR or the unit you would like to go to. I am going through the same situation right now with the BOP but I also was a former TDCJ worker at the Eastham Unit. I am heading back to the Beeville area soon til i hear back from the FEDS

First & foremost, you fail to indicate what you did wrong in the first place. Having said that, the best way to find out is by confronting this head-on. Call or go yoursef & get a direct answer from TDCJ. I once did this when I worked at the Darrington Unit back in 1976, but I called the Darrington's Warden first (where I had quit) & ran it down through him. Then I applied in person & was hired by Mr. Manning immediately! I was assigned to the Ellis Unit, Maximum Security Penitentiary. We had 22 deathrow inmates there at the time. I went to work for the FEDs in 1980........never regret it! GOOD LUCK.

Your right, I didnt. I was wrote up for failure to follow a policy/court order/procedure/regulation, its wrote something like that anyway..basically I didnt follow a specific policy. I left due to being called by another state agency, not due to the disciplinary, but it was pending when I left. I just hope that one mistake I made didn't ruin my chances with TDCJ...I've called Huntsville HR and they say they cant tell me yes or no because it goes to a board..but they also say everything is looked at not just the fact I had a pending disciplinary, and in the year and 1/2 I was there, that was the only blemish I had..

GO FOR IT! Let the chips fall where they may. If the FEDs take you, they're going to find out anyway. Remember, if & when the FEDs intend to hire you, you will certainly go through your first back-ground check by the FBI. Then once every five years, yes, you guess it, by the FBI. Even your credit must be in good standing! Once you get in, get an attitude adjustment & do your job the Bureau's way, not the TDCJ's way........you'll know what I'm talking about once you start. You can transfer where needed anywhere in the U.S.A.. Even to other Federal Law Enforcement Agencies.
Only you can make this happen!!
