I don't care where you get it, whether from AD Meyer or the employees club: obtaining or using any badge-like device that gives the appearance of being official, is a violation of the employee standards of conduct.

BTW... anyone else notice that PS 5500.18 (I think), "Firearms and Badges", has been rescinded?
This. A thousand times this. Read the program statements gents. Particularly the guys still on probation, unless you want to go back to whatever you left to come to the BOP. When it comes right down to it the Warden can say in writing that you can have one from Ad Meyers/Wherever.com and your still hit if they want to get you.

HAY-ZOOS EFFIN CHRISTO, how hard is it to understand?

There is ONE BOP badge. The ONLY legitimate BOP badge is the one issued to you by the BOP when you take an armed escort. Anything that resembles or gives the appearance of being an official BOP badge is OFF LIMITS.

And it goes without saying, if it doesn't look like the official badge, then why bother?

These various companies that make up fake badges are running a scam for cop wannabees. They all look fake. The same scammers all make "Official Concealed Carry" badges and "H.R. 218" badges.

Look: if you're even vaguely tempted to buy a tactical raid jacket, any piece of clothing that says "FEDERAL OFFICER", or anything whatsoever that implies you're something other than just another ordinary citizen carrying a gun under a narrow exception of the law, you need to really sit down and seriously re-evaluate your self perception.

The WARDEN can be aware of it and even be carrying one too BUT when it comes down to a disciplinary action about using a 'badge' not issued by the BOP you WILL take the fall if they want to push the issue.

I don't know but this is so hilarious to me- even funnier that I'm sure theres a few guys running around with one on their neck and in their wallets!

The views and opinions expressed by the author do not represent any group/organization/Department or entity other than the poster himself. It is also advised that the reader take note to the fact that the poster is in fact a certified idiot. Seriously this dumb dumb cannot and does not represent anyone or anything but his own dumb self.

Im not a fed, im only a simple state CO, but I read alot of this thread and wanted to ask one question.......You can always tell me to F*#$ off if you like and there will be no hard feelings.

My questions is this: Why would you want to have a badge that tells the whole world you have a firearm on you when you are not on duty? I carry every day while not at work. I carry and I don't want anyone to know that I am carrying, just like you wouldn't flash a big wad of hundreds you just won at the casino, you don't advertise that you are armed unless you are using your weapon.

I was led to believe you get get a formal ID after three years in the bureau, or was it five? I think with the low retention the bureau held in the past it was probably an issue giving proper credentials to everyone that hired in so they started waiting till you were vested, and more likely to stay your twenty.
