    Question Top Hiring BOP Locations

    Hello,

I have been trying to become a Corrections Officer within BOP for a few years now and I was told that it could be possible that the locations that I have been applying to are not currently hiring. I am currently a federal employee that is working part time, and I just need some guidance on where to apply to in order to be considered. My wife and I are not willing to relocate to Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania.

    - Connecticut
    Danbury FCI

    - Delaware
    N/A

    - Maryland
    Cumberland FCI

    - New Jersey
    Fairton FCI
    Fort Dix FCI

    - New York
    Brooklyn MDC
    New York MCC
    Otisville FCI
    Ray Brook FCI

    - Pennsylvania
    Allenwood FCC
    Canaan USP
    Lewisburg USP
    Loretto FCI
    McKean FCI
    Moshannon Valley CI
    Philadelphia FDC
    Schuylkill FCI

I have applied to the locations within Philadelphia, PA, as well as FCI Ford Dix. I am just trying to help my family and start my career within BOP.

Thank you for all of your assistance.

Seems like you don't want to work in the entire north eastern area. Have you looked at some of the complexes out West like Victorville? In the south FCC Yazoo City in Mississippi is activating a USP and needs plenty of staff. But if you are trying to stay close to where you are it'll be a long slow process to get on at a stand alone.

Yeah, my wife is diabetic and her parents are older so we don't want to be so far away just in case something happens. Unfortunately that limits me for work. I wasn't sure if there was a hot spot in those states that hires new recruits often.

It would help us if you told us where you WOULD like to work? Are you only considering Philly and Did? Did you consider Fairton?

Those are the locations I would like to work, the last job announcement allowed you to only choose 2 locations you can work at. When it reopens on Friday, I am going to apply at Fairton and I am not sure where else yet.

I would recommend Allenwood or Canaan. A 3rd option but not on your list but not really that far out would be either Hazelton WV or Petersburg VA. Those are complexes and will do a little more hiring whenever they lift the hiring freeze

    Good Luck

Allenwood FCC is 3 different prisons, so they probably hire the most people. Also- I have heard that even though you get two choices - you really only get called from your first pick.

I know you're trying to stay nearby, but FCI Berlin NH is a sure bet when the freeze is lifted.

After five years of operation, they still can't hire enough COs to open the third housing unit (they opened it briefly, then closed it again).

I don't understand why the BOP is frozen, but my process for Dept of the Navy Police Officer process is still moving forward.
